What is Sarsparilla?
Sarsaparilla is a plant made up of woody vines, which is where it got its name. The word sarsaparilla is a translation of the Spanish word zarzaparilla, which means “brambly vine”. There are varieties of the sarsaparilla plant in most parts of the world now, but it was originally native to tropical climates in the Western Hemisphere. It used to be used to make sodas and root beers, but now it has mostly been replaced with artificial flavorings. The plant and roots have been used for hundreds of years by native peoples for its purported health benefits.
Sarsaparilla has a range of possible health benefits and is rich in antioxidants. It has natural anti-inflammatory properties and may help support the joints. Sarsaparilla may also support the liver & skin.
