NAC SIDE EFFECTS
As long as suggested serving sizes are adhered to, this product is considered safe. However, if you are taking nitroglycerin or any medications that affect the heart, a medical professional should be consulted beforehand. It is also possible that NAC may block insulin, which means that diabetics are cautioned from taking this supplement.
If taking more than the recommended amount, side effects such as vomiting, nausea, headache and gastrointestinal pains may be experienced from use of this supplement. However, these side effects are quite rare. Taking a larger amount of one supplement may cause the absorption of other supplements to be less effective; it is important to supplement other minerals such as copper and zinc to make up for what is being lost.
This product is water soluble and has a bit of a sour flavor. It can be mixed with either water or juice. If the sourness of the supplement is too much to handle, it may be purchased in capsule form. Of the many forms of Cysteine, N-Acetyl L-Cysteine is easily the most bioavailable. It should be stored in an area that is free from light, heat and moisture.
