Since this supplement has the potential to have serious effects on neurotransmitters and emotional responses in the brain, it should not be taken by anyone that is already being medicated for psychiatric conditions such as depression. Taking this along with antidepressants could elevate the blood pressure to very dangerous and possibly fatal levels. If you have been diagnosed with Phenylketonuria (a condition that causes the body to improperly metabolize Phenylalanine), this supplement must not be consumed.
Ignoring the suggested serving size of L-Phenylalanine or taking too much of it over long periods can cause adverse side effects such as headache, heartburn, heightened blood pressure, mood swings, anger agitation, nausea, insomnia, serious nerve damage and problems digesting Tyrosine. Anyone that routinely experiences high blood pressure or serious headaches like migraines should not take this supplement or consume foods that are high in Phenylalanine content. This product should also not be consumed by women who are pregnant or nursing and those with melanoma.
This vegetarian product dissolves slowly in water. The hotter the water, the more easily this substance dissolves. It has no discernible taste. It should be mixed with water or juice and then consumed.
