What is Chicory?
Chicory (cichorium intybus) is a perennial herbaceious plant in the dandelion family that develops bright blue flowers. The root is commonly used as a coffee substitute, as a flavoring for stout beers, and as a dietary supplement. Chicory is also known as blue daisy, blue dandelion, blue weed, blue sailors, coffeeweed, horseweed, succory, and cornflower.
Chicory root is high in fiber and may have laxative effects. It helps digestion and supports digestive health. It also contributes to heart health and supports the liver.
