Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that is used as an artificial sweetener. It is also notably used to maintain teeth and gum health.
Xylitol has a lower caloric content than table sugar, is easily absorbed in the body and does not cause blood sugar level to rise and agitate hyperglycemia.* As a sugar substitute, Xylitol may also contribute to weight loss.
Serving Size & Timing
To prevent tooth decay, dentists recommend a dose of 6-10 grams per day of Xylitol. It should be used on a regular basis to experience its maximum effect in protecting against tooth problems.
To protect against ear infection in children, the recommended dose for chewing gum, syrup or lozenges is 8.4 to 10 grams, given five times a day after meals.
For an oral solution, 5 grams three times daily is recommended.

Mixes well with my whey protein shake. Shipping was fast. But the best part was the customer service. The girls that work at Bulk Supplement are the best!! Very helpful and courteous and that's saying a lot about this company. Wouldn't want to any other place for my supplements. *

I really like xylitol as a sweetener that inhibits bacterial growth, including tooth decay.
I think it is worth noting that it should be kept away from dogs for whom it is very toxic.*

Xylitol really sweetens just as good as sugar and does not have any odd taste like Stevia. I use it to sweeten most everything like desserts and coffee.*

I added Glutamine and BCAA powder to my daily whey smoothie and the result was so bitter it was horrid. I added one scoop of Xylitol and its all good again. Looks like sugar, taste is now overpowering, and it does kill the natural taste of the fruit already in the blender. Sometimes a add a pinch of stevia if a full-dose of the bitter powders is just sour beyond belief.

I had been using Stevia for quite a long time, tried sorbitol and both had a bit bitter taste to them. Xylitol tastes the best by far and you only need a very small amount to sweeten a typical size drink.*

I am one of those very sensitive to sugar alcohols, such as sorbitol and this does not give me the gastric distress that the other sugar alcohols do. A little goes along way and it dissolves much better than stevia! *
