Magnesium Hydroxide Powder
Magnesium Hydroxide, or as it is sometimes referred to, Milk of Magnesia, is a compound whose main purpose is to keep up bowel regularity. Because Magnesium is known to work so well with Calcium, it is recommended that it be taken along with a Calcium supplement at a 1:2 ratio.
Magnesium Hydroxide is useful in reducing the levels of acidity in the stomach and is meant to be taken as an aid for gastrointestinal discomfort.* Because it increases the amount of water present in the intestines, this supplement is also used as a laxative.
Serving Size & Timing
This supplement is recommended to be taken in serving sizes of 1000mg per day. This is equal to about 1/4 tsp total. The FDA recommends that Magnesium be taken in servings of 400mg per day. And since this solution contains 42% Magnesium, consuming 1000mg of the total supplement will equal about 420mg, just a little bit more than the FDA recommended daily value for adults.
Because of this supplement’s strong effects, it is recommended that no other medication be taken within one to two hours of taking this, as the Magnesium Hydroxide present in the stomach may cause the drug to not be absorbed correctly.
It has also been shown that the efficiency of Magnesium supplementation increases greatly when taking Calcium supplements along with it. For best results, it is recommended that Magnesium be consumed at a 1:2 ratio with Calcium. If taking 420mg of Magnesium with this supplement, you should also be taking 840mg calcium in order to balance out the effects.

INGREDIENTS & FURTHER INFORMATION
Magnesium Hydroxide Concentration
Magnesium hydroxide comes in the form of a fine powder and it has no fillers of any kind present in it. It contains 42% elemental magnesium which is a very high concentration.
Magnesium Hydroxide Side Effects
As long as suggested serving sizes are adhered to, Magnesium Hydroxide should be safe to take. However, taking too much may cause adverse side effects such as diarrhea, which can rapidly deplete the body’s supply of potassium. Muscle cramps may subsequently develop and inhibit the adsorption of iron and folic acid.
Those who have or have had severe kidney issues are recommended to make absolutely sure not to overdose on the total Magnesium content, as this could exacerbate their condition or cause it to resurface. Those who are healthy and have not been recommended this supplement by a doctor are advised to not take it for more than one week. If any side effects such as rectal bleeding or constipation occur or are still present, immediately discontinue use and call a doctor. These are usually indicative of another kind of serious condition that is not associated with this supplement.
The elderly and those that are already taking Magnesium-rich medications or supplements must consult a doctor before using this product.
This product is not very soluble in water. While this does make consumption a bit more complicated, it also means that it functions as a strong electrolyte, which may be of some use to those that work out often. This product should be stored in an area that is free from light, heat and moisture in order to preserve its potency.
From what I understand we are all probably low on magnesium and I am trying to get magnesium in all forms. Love Bulk Supplements purity.*

I'm going to try this in order to make Mag Bicarb water. We all need plenty of Mag. I had kidney stones and read that this will help avoid them, so we'll see if that is true. I certainly don't want to use anything like MoM and get other nasty junk with it, so hoping to avoid those with this powder. *

Virtually tasteless. Makes great Magnesium Bicarbonate water. Actually I was able to double the amount suggested in the Afibbers recipe. Not sure why, but still had some carbonation left. Makes Magnesium much more digestible.*

This magnesium powder arrived quickly and packaged very well.
The powder is clean and pure. Can be used for multiple purposes, as in above reviews. I love this company and will continue to look here before any other place when I need supplements. I had several questions and they were answered very quickly by customer service. I also love that you can read thru the reviews and get so much info from the experiences of others regarding uses Thanks!*

I've been making my own Magnesium Bicarbonate water (www.afibbers.org/Wallerwater.pdf) and was using Milk of Magnesia (which is essentially just Magnesium Hydroxide suspended in water, bottled and sold at any local drugstore). It was quickly becoming apparent that I didn't need to spend the extra money on retail bottles of Milk of Magnesia when I could simply get this pure Magnesium Hydroxide powder and use it instead. The product arrived quickly, was packaged securely and works quite well in the recipe, and saves a lot of time and money over buying retail bottles of Milk of Magnesia.*

This magnesium hydroxide is smooth tasting making it easy to take with water. I think taste is somewhat important if I'm intending to continue to take a supplement a regular basis.
It seems too relax me after my first dose, when normally I'm up all night. After trying it, I slept with no problems...now but too be continue.
I also notice that my eyes are no longer bloodshot but clear in the morning.
It seems to have some real good effects. I mention the relaxation, normally my lower back keeps me from sleeping, so I kinda went online to find some possible relief for the pain. And I think magnesium hydroxide is one the supplements that is doing the most help so far (relaxation).
Good Product *

Apparently Magnesium Hydroxide is generally used for constipation issues. I discovered that it can also be used in making homemade deodorant. It absolutly works! My homemade deodorant works significantly better than any commercial deodorant I have ever used! Thank you Bulksuppliments for putting out an exceptional product! I am highly impressed. *
