Calcium Citrate Powder

Key Features

  • High-absorbance Calcium
  • Easy on the stomach
  • Promotes overall bone health
  • Taste

  • Mixability

Calcium Citrate, containing about 21% Calcium, is higher up on the list than most supplements in terms of overall Calcium content and has the most efficient absorption capabilities. It comes in the form of a vaguely tart, salt-like compound made up of Citric Acid and Calcium.

Directions

Serving Size & Timing

Natural foods will always be the best source of Calcium, but as far as this supplement is concerned, it is best to take about 2400mg (about 3/4 tsp) of Calcium Citrate at a time, once or twice per day. Because this compound is made up of 21% Calcium, having a 2400mg serving size will result in an overall amount of 500mg of pure Calcium being consumed per serving, which is about half of the FDA-recommended daily value of 1000mg. These values are slightly adjusted for age and certain conditions. For example, it is recommended that infants have about 600mg per day, children under four should take 800mg and women who are pregnant (especially those who are nursing) should take 1300mg per day.

If you are already taking antacids that contain Calcium or any other kind of medication with Calcium, a physician should first be consulted before use. Excess intake could eventually decrease its effectiveness and dilute stomach acid, causing it to improperly dissolve these medications. If you have had kidney stones in the past, parathyroid disease or take any other antacids or Calcium supplements, you should discuss this product with your doctor before beginning a course.

INGREDIENTS & FURTHER INFORMATION

CONCENTRATION OF CALCIUM CITRATE

There are no fillers in this solution of Calcium Citrate. It is vegan friendly and should be stored in a dry, dark and cool area.

CALCIUM CITRATE SIDE EFFECTS

There are no harmful side effects to consider when taking Calcium Citrate supplements unless overdose occurs. Those that go beyond the recommended daily value up to 2.5 grams could cause an imbalance in bodily mineral storage. Minor side effects which may result from overdose could include irregular heartbeat, headaches, stomach upset and increased frequency of urination.

TIPS

Calcium Citrate has a high bioavailability, and it is recommended that it be taken with Vitamin D supplements or in Vitamin D-rich juices, since this will increase its effectiveness and maximize its absorption. Calcium Citrate does not dissolve well in water, but when taken with a cold citrus juice like orange juice or lemonade, its solubility will increase significantly.

One of the largest sources of Calcium is in dairy, with just one small serving of dairy containing about 300mg, or 1/4 of the total daily value for Calcium. However, Calcium is also found in many other natural sources such as seaweed, nuts, legumes and quinoa.

great product!
I've been adding calcium to my daily routine as part of an electrolyte combination that I make along with other clean supplements from BS and couldn't be happier with the results. Products always arrive on time, and in great sealed packaging. Will always buy my supplements exclusively from Bulk Supplements.*

Calcium Citrate Powder
The cost of calcium citrate capsules has skyrocketed in the last 2 years so I have been looking for another source. Bulk Supplements is a great alternative. Their products are ultra pure and safety tested---and much cheaper. I put the calcium citrate in my morning smoothie. It also dissolves well in juice. I would highly recommend it. *

Using this in conjunction with Magnesium Gluconate to help lower blood pressure. Not sure if it is doing the job yet. Have Dr.'s appt later in September. Will update. Packaging needs improving, though.*

Another Winner from BS
Great Calcium powder. This does not irritate my stomach at all. I mix it with BS Magnesium Glycinate. I love the convenience. I take a lot of supplements, and I have to say that I am buying more and more from BS all the time. It's just hard to beat the quantity, price, and potency of most all of their products. *

Calcium Citrate
This calcium citrate powder mixes easily with water or whatever liquid you use. It does not have a strong taste and goes down easily. I need extra calcium as I generally do not eat dairy products and want to be sure it is absorbed. I use this with magnesium citrate or glycinate and vitamin K-2 for maximum absorbtion!*

Calcium Citrate
This product is perfect for my situation. My doctor requires me to take a calcium citrate supplement to avoid calcium deficiency and help guard against kidney stones. The powder is water soluble with no taste of bad texture. I'd recommend this product from Bulk Supplements over any other source, since it is more cost effective to purchase in bulk, rather than getting nickel and dimed by the retail suppliers (local pharmacy etc). *

Grateful
Bulksuppliments.com is a fantastic company that enables me to add supplementation w/ out the high prices.
This product, Calcium Citrate, is excellent. Packaging - excellent. I like it in powder form - hate pills! Mixes very easily - I just mix with a 6 oz glass of water, but can do it w/ juice or smoothie and it's perfect. No taste, just a bit of chalkiness if not diluted enough.

I'll be adding this to my normal regimen! Thank you!*

Packaging
The packages come in extremely durable foil type packaging that is resealable which I like. My calcium citrate was *almost* sealed as much as my other supplements so part of the powder leaked and filled the package with a fine dust. It wasn't a big deal after I wiped it all off. I am pretty sure that is the only problem I will have with the packaging and I should be able to store them in the original packages for their life which is more than I can say for other products which I normally switch into mason jars so they are more durable. *

Super!
Like Magnesium Citrate, Calcium Citrate is THE form of Calcium to take, according to the experts. Other forms are not as easily absorbed, utilized by the body.

And like Mag Cit, Cal Cit is not as easy to find.

I have difficulty swallowing large pills, so this powder solves a big problem for me. I just put a sip of water in my mouth, tap a rounded teaspoon of Cal Cit on top of the puddle in my mouth, and swallow it all, trying not to mash my tongue to the roof of my mouth. Then I quickly wash down whatever may be left. I literally can't wait to see the results of my next lab test for Calcium!!*

Calcium Citrate
This product arrived quickly and packaged well. I have osteoporosis and need to take calcium in larger doses. It was getting expensive and taking pills is not always easy. I put this in my morning smoothie and it does not change the taste at all. I am really glad I ordered this., It is cheaper than the pills and a lot more pleasant.*

calcium citrate
I was told by my Doctor to start taking 1800 mg of calcium 2x a day. The pills are huge and I am not good at taking pills. 59 years old and my bone scan came back showing a little loss of density, so I know I have to take it. This is so much easier to take, mix it in yogurt with blueberries or honey and it doesn't feel like 3 pills are sitting in my stomach not breaking down. I can remember to mix the powder with my food or drink. The pills were inconvenient and were filled with things I didn't need. This just works better for me. *

Calcium Citrate
My body seems to like and absorb this calcium. It does not really have much of a taste to me. It seems clean and fresh and mixes well in H20.
It is nice to be able to adjust my dose if needed depending on my food consumption.
Not only does this seem to be a high quality calcium but there is no unnecessary fillers.
I will reorder this as needed - good calcium, good value.*

Calcium Citrate Powder
My Family is so glad we found Bulk Supplements as a supplier of calcium supplements. My 23 year old son crashed his bike on the way to the gym last week. He is OK but fractured his collar bone in three places. We had a supply of calcium citrate powered on hand as both me and my wife use this product daily for our own needs after fusion surgery. We took a large bag of calcium citrate to my son the day after the accident. Now a week later he is doing well but in pain of course. He said the fractures seem to have fused and does not have the grinding of the bone after one week. He is also taking vitamin D, C,Zinc and Beta Carotene with a multi-vitamin. This is the same formula that my orthopedic foot surgeon insisted on before and after my subtalar fusion of left foot with hardware. IT WORKS !*

How to Keep My Tongue (And Body) Happy
The subject line says it all! I only recently realized I was only getting 26% of my daily requirement of magnesium! I also realized for over 10 years, I have been concentrating on my need for Calcium Citrate. I never even knew I needed Magnesium. The result? Health issues.

Following my Bariatric Surgery over 10 years ago, the doctors cautioned me about the absolute need to take Calcium Citrate because it would be more bioavailable for my body; but, never, ever, ever, did any doctor ever tell me about the crucial need for magnesium, or even that I would need to separate my taking my thyroid medication from any form of magnesium or iron, by 4 hours before my medication and 4 hours after my medication. If you don't separate the eating of iron or magnesium by these times, then, your medication is crippled, which means the doctors will prescribe a higher dosage. Right?

I only found that out 2 1/2 months ago, so I have been religiously setting my alarm for 4:00 a.m. to take my thyroid pill after sleeping for 4 hours, going back to bed and sleeping for another 4 hours. Then, I get to eat. Yeah.

I recently discovered BulkSupplements.com and happily ordered Magnesium Citrate and Calcium Citrate, 1 k of each. I commenced about a month ago taking 1 tsp. of Calcium Citrate and 1 tsp. of Magnesium Citrate. I didn't notice any difference for several days, but then, my tongue started salivating with the eating or drinking of ... anything.

Then, 6-17-2015 I added 1/4 teaspoon of Rhodiola Rosea 3% Salidroside (a product BulkSupplements.com wants me to review, and I'll do that), to my morning 1:1 Calcium Citrate/Magnesium Citrate combo. Immediately, my tongue commenced really letting me know it liked what was passing over it. So, I really, really know my body is loving what I am doing.

What a pleasurable experience! Here I am pushing 80 (not quite there), and I never realized my tongue could actually taste, much less salivate. I guess it has always had the ability to sense something, otherwise, I doubt if I would have been addicted to sugars for many years; but, I never knew my tongue could salivate because it never did.

Why do I take 1:1 Calcium Citrate to Magnesium Citrate in place of 2:1 of these two products? First, because of my Bariatric Surgery, and my 50% malabsorption, I must double the dosage of ... everything. Second, our Lord told me to take this specific 1:1 combination. Who am I to argue?

Thanks, BulkSupplements.com for great products, excellent delivery, great packaging, etc.*

Finally - Digestible Calcium!
As someone who desperately needs to elevate if not totally include substantial amounts of Calcium in her diet, I have been through the gauntlet of every alleged digestible version out there - from caplettes to liquid and have been resoundly disappointed ... till now.

For the past 10 days I have been taking this supplement (gradually increasing the dosage from 1/4 teaspoon once a day to my current amount of 1/2 teaspoon twice a day) and have had absolutely no negative effects. No stomach aches or issues with gas. This is amazing.

At first I had problems finding a suitable delivery method and have settled on mixing it with some yogurt. It works great.

I don't expect miraculous results, but atleast I know I'm on the way to definite improved health benefits. For me, a winner.*

So Easy To Use
The calcium citrate has no noticeable taste so I can stir it into any fruit juice. I previously had problems getting the exact dosage of calcium recommened by doctor utilizing pre-prepared "giant" capsules. Now I can easily measure the amount specified and spread 3 doses per day as the doctor requested. Before, I had to choose between too much calcium or too little.*

Fantastic Product
My wife and I recently ordered powered calcium citrate for the first time. We have several joints in the spine and foot fused and are under doctor's orders to maintain a steady intake of calcium. We had been taking supplements in pill form but with the cost and the problem of swallowing so many large pills, this calcium powder is a real blessing!!! It mixes great with any juice or milk products. The order was processed very quickly and featured supersonic shipping.
Thank you Bulk Supplements.com*

very good product
I have been buying box store brand calcium citrate and grinding it in a coffee grinder because I hate swallowing 6 HUGE pills daily as part of post gastric bypass. I happened to come across this site that sells it already in powder form. I have tried it a few times now and it is like flour consistency. I use 1/2 teaspoon and toss in mouth and follow with a flavor enhanced water to wash it down and it dissolves instantly with no taste. So far It works for what I need. my only concern is store brand had Vitamin D3 mixed in with it. I dont know if thats needed but I take D3 separately anyway. Now if this site can sell a really good alternative for my multi vitamins because centrum has been reviewed on another site and got a 72 outta 75 . But I'll buy my calcium citrate from here from now on . great job guys .*

Great Product
I was skeptical at first thinking calcium citrate would be chalky, not dissolve and taste awful. But thankfully I was wrong. In fact I mix it with several other of my Bulk Supplements and I don't understand how (must be a chemistry thing) but it helps dissolve the other supplements and help lesson the bitter taste of the NAC! So glad I made this purchase. *

Fine powder, nearly without taste, mixes with water easily
I have to take over 13 grams of calcium citrate per day because of malabsorption of calcium. This powdered form costs about 85% less than the cheapest I have been able to find the same thing in capsules or tablets. Since it mixes easily with water and has barely any taste (and the faint taste is not bad at all) it's saving me hundreds and hundreds of dollars a year!*

Easy to mix and no taste
It dissolves easily in water, no taste and works great with the Mg powder I also received to mix in my protein shakes. Only negative would the the 1/2 tsp of powder that covered my counter when I opened it. The next bag I had to be very careful to tear open very very slowly.*

Calcium Citrate
I am very pleased with this product. It is a very fine powder and mixes well with yogurt or kefir or a smoothy. It has no taste when mixed with water, but it doesn't want to dissolve completely. I will be purchasing this product from now on as it costs a lot less than the huge capsules that hold the same amount of calcium, and is much easier to swallow.*

Calcium citrate
I am very pleased with this calcium citrate. The texture is a very fine white powder, not at all gritty, and it has a pleasant neutral taste. It is very easy to mix in water, swirl a second, and just drink along with my other supplements. The one kilogram package contains 420 servings of 3/4 teaspoons each, which supplies 500 mg, or 50% of RDA . If I take two servings a day, this 1 kilogram package will last me 210 days, or seven months. A wonderful value.*

I ordered this product with magnesium glycinate to replace a more expensive product that already combined the two. So far it seems to do the job and is much more cost effective. it doesn't mix real well with water but I don't really mind. I like that there are no added ingredients. Overall I think this was a good purchase.*

Calcium Citrate
Since I discovered this site I have been quite pleased. The information on the various products is helpful in determining my needs. I have learned to fill my own capsules so I can get the dose that I need. I did not know that there were so many differences in calcium, and I found out I was taking the worst one available. 400mg of elemental calcium will fit in a size #1 capsule. This is a good product and it certainly more cost effective than buying over the counter products.*
