Calcium Carbonate Powder
- Supports healthy bones
- Promotes gastrointestinal health
- Source of Calcium
Calcium Carbonate is a chemical compound comprised of calcium, oxygen and carbon.
Those looking to supplement Calcium Carbonate for gastrointestinal discomfort or calcium deficiency are encouraged to research the compound to decide if it is right for them.
Serving Size & Timing
Suggested serving size for Calcium Carbonate is about 1250mg, or 3/8 tbs, to be taken one or two times per day, depending on intended effect. Since the FDA recommendation for Calcium intake per day is about 1000mg, and Calcium Carbonate contains about 40% Calcium; this means that a serving of 1250mg contains about 500mg, half of what the FDA recommends for total daily Calcium intake.
The best way to maintain healthy levels of Calcium is to have a Calcium-balanced diet. Since a single serving of any type of dairy generally contains about 300mg of Calcium, someone who has about four servings of dairy on a daily basis need not supplement their diet with any more.

SIDE EFFECTS OF CALCIUM CARBONATE
This supplement should be avoided by anyone that is pregnant or nursing. Any side effects from Calcium Carbonate are rare and typically only occur if suggested serving sizes are not adhered to. The worst side effects are loss of appetite, increased frequency of urination and dry mouth.
Calcium has the potential to bind to many different medications and to reduce the level of acidity in stomach acid or urine. While this would not necessarily neutralize them, it could cause their effectiveness to be diminished significantly. Taking this supplement should be discussed with a health care professional if this is a concern.
Calcium Carbonate should be well dissolved into water or juice. It is best to take Calcium Carbonate with a Vitamin D supplement or with Vitamin D-rich foods or drinks, as this will increase effectiveness of Calcium absorption. The powder should be stored in an area that is far away from any source of light or heat and should also be kept in a dry environment away from moisture.
I'm super excited about this supplement. I recently started making my own homemade toothpaste. I was extremely happy to see that calcium carbonate is available on this site. It's an ingredient that I need to help strengthen the enamel of our teeth. The order was received promptly and it was packaged well. If you're in the market for high quality supplements, I highly recommend Bulk Supplements.*

I am a life-long consumer of calcium supplements, and can't say enough about their nutritional value. Modern farming and food processing practices leave our diets woefully mineral deficient. For myself and family members who tend to measure highly acidic urine and saliva, we take calcium carbonate at every meal, whether I cook with it, or take separately. Calcium carbonate alkalizes those of us who are too acidic, and neutralizes stomach acids in the same way antacid tablets do. Additionally, we take other calcium supplements as well, to round out our nutritional menu. Thank you BulkSupplements for making so many great supplements in bulk for us!*

I wanted to make my own toothpaste and this is one of the main ingredients. It was easy to make using the calcium carbonate (along with xylitol) and I don't have to worry about the fluoride used in most commercial toothpastes. *

Calcium Carbonate is a necessity to maintain strong bone mass especially after 40 years old. I train 12 hours daily with individual Chinese Military energy conditioning systems and also teaching QI Gong and Taijiquan classes over the past 44 years. Chinese military systems are extremely demanding as tremendous amounts of pressurized force is placed on the skeleton system consistently. Adding Bulk Supplements protein powder with Calcium Carbonate and adding vitamin D3 is an incredible combination that helps to prevent fatigue mentally and physically.
Calcium can be found in foods also but it is difficult to eat every couple of hours and a small protein shake is sufficient and takes less time as I only have a few minutes between classes. I use the pure vitamin D3 that is fantastic as you see a improvement in hair looking healthier and it helps to absorb the calcium into the bones. Supplements have come a long way over the past 44 years, but they only work with proper professional training, using the correct amounts, and understanding what supplements are best for each other and how they affect your training. Bulk Supplements work extremely well and I like to mix my own protein shake rather than eat protein bars or sports drinks and the cost is sufficiently less.*
